Montgomery County elementary school children will have the opportunity this summer to learn about genetics as part of GlaxoSmithKline's Science in the Summer program, a free science education program.
Why do some children have brown eyes and others have blue eyes? Why do some of your friends have curly hair and others have straight hair? What is DNA What does it look like? Follow the clues at Jenkintown Library to learn the answers to these questions and more. Find out why there is no one else exactly like you.
The course is being offered in 32 public libraries in Montgomery County.
The
GlaxoSmithKline
Science in
the Summer
program is
comprised of
four
45-minute
classes
given over
the course
of a week.
The
experiment-oriented
course is
taught by
certified
teachers to
groups of 15
students in
two age
groups:
those
entering
second and
third grades
(Level I)
and those
entering
fourth
through
sixth grades
(Level II).
Science in the Summer will be offered at Jenkintown Library on July 21-24, 2008
Sessions are offered in the morning (Level I: 10 - 10:45 a.m., Level II: 11:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
Registration for Borough residents only will take place between June 1 - 7, 2008. Open registration for Montgomery county residents is June 8-30, 2008.
